Train robbery

In August 1963, a Royal Mail train travelling from Glasgow to London was attacked and robbed of £2.61 million. While heavy sentences were given out to the gang of 15 robbers in July/August of 1964, I went on holiday, aged 4, in a train carriage in Kent. Coincidence, I do not think so...news coverage was considerable especially when some of the robbers escaped from jail shortly afterwards.

Memories of the infamous robbery and my holidays that year have provided new inspiration to explore how recollections from the past become influenced by the passing of time and migration across borders and continents.

This new body of work investigates further how transposition, transparency, layering and materiality provides a vehicle into making the invisible, visible.
