Seaside and deckchairs
An exploration of childhood memories, social history and the emotions of growing up in the 1960s. Family events, holiday snaps, and news stories that have shaped who I am are the subject of new bodies of work.
The following works are from a Series of 10 new experiments with deckchairs and family snaps from a beach holiday in 1963. News and events at the time included the Profumo affair, The Beatles at No.1, The Great Train Robbery, and the first Dr. Who episode. The works and subject matter appear trapped in time, isolated with a passing crowd dissolving into the background, leaving the deckchair, alone, to float away.
